The popularity of cricket is manifested in mushrooming of several cricket academy and coaching classes spread all over India. Mumbai is the financial capital of India. Not long ago, it also used to be a breeding ground for great cricketing talents. Mumbai is known for giving Indian cricket talents like Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Pravin Amre, Sanjay Mangrekar, Polly Umrigar, Ajit Agarkar, Vinod Kambli and the most illustrious of all, Sachin Tendulkar. There was an era in Indian cricket when every second member of the team was from Mumbai. Now time has changed yet Mumbai has not lost its importance and significance in developing top class talents. Several genuine talents have come out of cricket coaching Mumbai. Cricket academy in Mumbai focuses upon polishing the raw talents and preparing them for top flight cricket. The last name is the crowning jewel of Indian cricket who has made the country proud several times since his debut some 20 years ago. He was also a product of celebrated coach Ramakant Achrekar who believed in his born talent and gave it further direction. The cricket coaches in Mumbai use the art of coaching by mixing it with technical and mental aspects. There are several cricket coaching and academies in Mumbai who train young guns.

About Mumbai Cricket Association:

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is one of the oldest members of the BCCI and it is in charge of all kinds of cricket related activities in Mumbai and its surrounding regions like Thane and Navi Mumbai, at the moment. The association is formally known as the Bombay Cricket Association and it started its journey in the year 1930. The association has a sound Constitution for governing its activities and it belongs to the West Zone, according to the BCCI. The association is a perfect example of governing cricket, as it always tries to maintain a sound democratic atmosphere in all of its activities. According to the constitution of the Mumbai Cricket Association, no individual is allowed to continue in any post of the association for more than eight years (for terms of 2 years) at a stretch. The constitution also suggests that an individual can be allowed to re-occupy a post after a gap of 4 years, once he/she completes 8 years in the position. The association always tries to keep itself on the move with new ideas and enthusiasm and it practices the democratic values, as well. The system of individual membership is not allowed in the constitution of the Mumbai Cricket Association. The association has a huge number of 350 ordinary members and 25 Associate members, all of which are affiliated to the Association. The voting system of the Mumbai Cricket Association is also quite interesting, as it allows only the ordinary members to vote during its elections. According to its constitution, if any ordinary member is found to be inactive in terms of cricket activity for more than 3 years, the association will demote the Club to which he/she belongs, as an Associate member. The constitution added that if the club is found to be still inactive for another 3 years, the association cancels the membership of the club, immediately. The current President of BCCI, Mr. Sharad Pawar is also bearing the responsibilities of the President of Mumbai Cricket Association, at the moment. A large number of cricket clubs in Mumbai and its surrounding places are currently associated with MCA, including the likes of Dadar Parsi Colony Gymkhana, Shahpu Spencer Challenge Shield Cricket Committee. The association has also done a great job by making the Mumbai cricket team as one of the best ones in the domestic cricket arena in India. The team has already won over 36 titles in the Ranji Trophy, the latest being in 2003-04 and it has also become runner-up in the final of the Ranji Trophy for a total of 4 times. The Mumbai Cricket Association is having its won stadium- The Wankhede Stadium; near Church gate railway station that was built in the year of 1975. Mr. Sharad Pawar is representing the Mumbai Cricket Association in BCCI, at the moment.
